Process Development

Gain a real feel for Process Development by listening to Clare who has undertaken a placement in Process Development as part of her Graduate Scheme.

As well as being involved in selling new ideas to our customers, you'll be working closely with our Chefs and other areas of the business to scale up our new products from the kitchen to the production lines. The majority of your role will be concerned with problem solving to resolve issues of practicality, looking at material costs, development of the recipes, availability of raw materials to ensure it's both a high quality and profitable product. You'll also be involved in trials, as well as gaining exposure to the commercial aspects of the process such as customer visits, packaging, development and all stages of a launch. It's not just new products that receive such care and attention. We're constantly developing the quality and consistency of our existing products. So you'll be working on enhancing and refining these, as well as carrying out work to ensure the product is still profitable and effective when there are changes of suppliers for raw materials or capital investment in the process.

Work in this area of the business is by nature cyclical and project based, so there's plenty of variety. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing your new products on the shelf. And as you'll be liaising with almost every area of the business it'll give you great exposure and build your profile - fast!
