Training
We refer to our training and development as first-rate and unique for good reason.
It starts with a 2 - 4 week induction programme, where you'll visit all our sites in Leicestershire and Cornwall, meet key business people and spend time on the bakery floors and within all other areas of the business.
Training then continues on a modular basis with off-site courses taking place between each placement. You'll learn various tools and techniques and lots about yourself, and by learning alongside other people from the business, you'll have a great opportunity to make contacts with other sites. Some days are 'outward bound' but don't worry you don't have to be a former member of the SAS to succeed.
The Samworth Academy is also available for you to learn whenever you want to. The Academy is a free learning resource and available to everyone on every site, and offers a range of interactive computer packages from management skills to garden design!
There will always be someone there to provide advice and direction as you find yourself in new and challenging situations. There's a structured performance review process in place that gives you regular feedback from your placements and training program. Using this information, we'll help you draw up an action plan that defines your future aims and we'll identify a placement that ensures you meet these goals. By limiting the number of people on the scheme, we can be sure you'll get the support you need from your Line Manager, Personnel Manager, Mentor, the Graduate Co-ordinator and existing Graduates.
When you feel ready to move off the scheme into a permanent role, your first step could be:
Assistant Area Production Manager
QA Supervisor
Process Technologist
Operations Manager (Van Sales)
Commercial Executive
Warehouse Supervisor
... to name but a few!
We'll obviously be there to advise you about your suitability for positions, but it will be your enthusiasm and ambition that takes you to the next stage of your career.
Don't worry - the end of the graduate scheme isn't the end of your training and development. It's just the beginning. Each sites' personnel team are always looking to develop their people and to help you continue your professional and personal development.
